Obituary of John Wayne Benson
John Benson passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 13, 2004 with his best friend and wife Lou, at his side. John will be deeply missed by Lou; his daughter Toni Daniels of Phoenix, AZ and son Bob (Sabrina) Benson of Shelby, MT; grandchildren, Heather, Willie, John, Desiree, Ashley, Garret, Briana and Rebecca, and six great-grandchildren; his brother Tom (Camille) Benson of Tulsa, OK; and nephews Steve (Tammy) of Tulsa, OK; and Doug (Stacy) of Phoenix, AZ; as well as two sisters-in-law, Mona (Leonel) Tofield, AB, Ruby (Nick) of Jasper, AB; and four nephews and two nieces.
Born on January 27, 1940, John grew up in Oklahoma City. In 1974, John started to work at Universal Field Services eventually purchasing the Canadian subsidiary company. John was an active member the International Right-of-Way Association and obtained the goal as president of the IRWA in 1993. As a professional right-of-way agent, John received many awards of recognition. A cowboy at heart, John was a life-long rodeo fan, famous for his Stampede chili parties. John was a loving husband, father, grand-father, brother and friend who will be fondly remembered by all who knew him. Being most comfortable in his blue jeans, John would be pleased if you came to say goodbye in yours.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North, Telephone: (403) 276-2296) Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at 10:00 A.M.
