Obituary of Josephine Drever

Josephine (Jo) Drever (nee Askwith) of Calgary, beloved mother, grandmother, great – grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully in her 101st year at her home with her family at her side on Sunday, October 3, 2004. Jo was born in Virginia, U.S.A. on December 29, 1903, and was the only child of William Askwith and Mary Chamberlin Askwith. Jo grew up in Ottawa, and married Adam Drever in Montreal in 1936. Jo and Adam started a family in Winnipeg, moving in 1951 to Calgary where they made their home for over fifty years. Jo was an active member of the community belonging to Christ Church Elbow Park, Anglican Church Women, Canadian Club, and Glencoe Club and was an avid bridge player. Jo will be lovingly remembered by her son William (Illa); granddaughters, Lara Drever and Elena(Neil) Ornstein; and her great-grandson Max Adam Ornstein, all of Oakville, ON. She is also survived by her grandson Jason Drever; granddaughter Kelly (Jonathan) Burke; great-granddaughter Bailey Burke, great-grandson Jordan Burke, all of Langley, BC; as well as her cousin Gordon Askwith of Dundas, ON. Jo is predeceased by her loving husband Albert (Adam) P. Drever (1903-1985), her son James (Jim) Traill Drever (1945-1995) and daughter-in-law Willadene (Willi) Cox Drever (1944-2002). Jo will be deeply missed by friends and family alike. The family gratefully acknowledges the care and attention paid to Jo by the staff at Comcare and the CRHA in the past several years. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, October 5, 2004 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at Christ Church Elbow Park (3602 – 8th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev.
