It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Christena Wood on September 28, 2004. She never gave up and always maintained her positive, cheerful personality through many years of pain and suffering since, at the age of 28, she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Christena will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband of 51 years, Dr. John Wood; her loving daughter, Dr. Donna Wood; son-in-law Brian Krausert; grandchildren, Sam, Conrad, Kevin, and Jennifer; her sister Margaret Southern; brothers-in-law, Desmond Wood and Ron Southern; sister-in-law Shirley Wood; and nieces and nephews, Jeffery, Carolyn, Nancy, Linda, Alyson, Thomas, Heather, and Michelle; as well as numerous other family members and friends. Chris was predeceased by her father and mother, Alice & Charles Visser, and her brothers, Jack & Everett Visser. As a child, Christena lived on a farm in Okotoks, in the town of Turner Valley, and in Moose Jaw. She moved to Calgary when she was 15 years, attending Crescent Heights High School, Western Canada High School and Henderson Business College. Chris worked as a secretary and accountant in Calgary and Redwood City, California for many years. After living with her husband, John, in Palo Alto and Redondo Beach, she returned to Calgary with John and Donna in 1965. Chris was extremely devoted to her family and dedicated to volunteer work. Chris made many lives beautiful and special. We praise God that he gave Chris to us for the time we had. We want to thank all those who loved her, visited her and cared for her these past years. A special thanks to Dr. Barry Baylis and Dr. Wally Temple and the wonderful nurses at Foothills Hospital.
