John McMillan

Obituary of John Cameron McMillan

John Cameron McMillan, beloved husband of Trudy McMillan and father of Cameron, passed away at the Redwood Meadows Golf Course on Monday, September 20, 2004 at the age of 60 years. John was born in Vancouver and raised in Burnaby where he attended school. In Grade 6, his first passion came to fruition – playing the trumpet in the Grade 6 school band. John’s talents were expanded when he played the French Horn in the New Westminster & District Jr. Concert Band throughout his high school years. With the concert band he toured Canada and the United States. When John was not playing music, he was an avid hockey and baseball player until golf took over his sporting life in the early 70’s. John moved to Calgary from Vancouver in 1974, but never lost his love for the BC Lions and Vancouver Canucks. His passion in life was spending time with his son, sharing a love of hockey and other sports, music and cars. John was an original member of the Redwood Meadows Golf and Country Club and was an avid golfer. John will be forever remembered and sadly missed by his wife, Trudy; his son Cameron; sister Jo-Anne; sisters-in-law Joan (Hal) Birkett, Carol King, and Marie King; nieces and nephews, Sandi (Darren), and Sarah, Ian (Whitney), Sandi (Peter), Dean (Patty), Robin (Colette), Nicole (Jim) and Brent. John was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Beatrice McMillan, and brothers-in-law, Wayne and Larry King.
