Obituary of Dorothy Anne Newman

Dorothy Anne Newman, beloved wife of Lynn Newman of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Sunday, September 19, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Dorothy was born in Hawick, Scotland on November 20, 1925. She ventured to Canada in 1951 and to Calgary in 1952 where she married Lynn and raised her family. Mom was a kind, loving person who thought the world of her family. Despite her many physical struggles, she continued to have a strong will. She possessed a great wealth of knowledge about many topics and enjoyed a good conversation. Along with her husband, Dorothy will be dearly missed by her son John (Sherry); daughters, Laurie (Jack) Whittaker and Carol (Mark) Heathcott; and cherished grandsons, Cody, Scott and John, Nick and Alex. Also left to mourn her are her brother Tom (Jan) Scott of Wales and her sister Moreen (Malcolm) Britton of Bahrain and their children. At Dorothy’s request there will be no service. In celebration of her life, a tea will be held for family and friends at The Inn on Crowchild (5353 Crowchild Trail N.W.) on Friday, September 24, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
