Obituary of Valli Anderson

Valli Faith Anderson (nee Erickson), beloved wife of Mr. Michael A. Anderson of Calgary, passed away Thursday, September 16, 2004 at home in the company of her husband and sons. She fought cancer for seven years before passing at the age of 55. Valli was born in Viking, Alberta on June 10, 1949. Throughout the early years of her life she lived in many different places, as her father was in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Valli met her husband Michael while in Hawaii in 1970. On February 27, 1971, they were married in Nanaimo, British Colombia. Valli said that she was able to accomplish all the things she had wanted from life. She married a wonderful husband, and she was able to have three children and one grandchild. She has lived near the Rocky Mountains and on Vancouver Island. Being a member of the Heritage Weaver’s Guild, Valli always had a project on the go. From tea towels and napkins to baby blankets and scarves, something was always being made for friends or family. The life Valli lived will always serve as a model for others. She was a kind, compassionate, and understanding person, always looking (and finding) the silver lining and bringing happiness to the people around her. Throughout her sickness, she helped her family members cope with disease by keeping a light heart and positive attitude. People will remember Valli most for is her selflessness. She was the surrogate mother to her children’s friends, was there for her friends and family during her illness, and did her best to prepare for the end to relieve the pressures on her family. She will be dearly missed, but she will be forever loved and remembered by her loving husband Michael; by a son Ben Logan Anderson of Raleigh, North Carolina; daughter-in-law Laurel Frances Anderson; granddaughter London Graye Anderson; daughter Anna Marie Anderson of Las Vegas, Nevada; son Luke Michael Anderson of Calgary; mother Mrs. Ada Erickson of Nanaimo, BC; sister Mrs. Ann Vessey of Denman Island, BC; brother Mr. Bryan Erickson of Campbell River, BC.
