Obituary of Rudy Radovanovic
Radoslav (Rudy) Radovanovic of Calgary passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends at the Sarcee Hospice on Friday, September 17, 2004 at the age of 77 years.
Rudy was born on February 17, 1927 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. At the age of 16 years, Rudy enlisted with the Yugoslavian Army and served as a tank driver in WW II. Rudy immigrated to Canada in 1978 and has travelled throughout the world as a professional musician.
Rudy’s passion was music and he came from a family of musicians who are world – renowned entertainers. He was a family man and a leader in his community. As a young musician, Rudy enjoyed a good glass of wine and as he got older his favorites became chocolate chip cookies and bingo.
Besides his companion Rada, Rudy is remembered by his two daughters; Lela (and son-in-law) Peter Derviller of Calgary; Nora of Calgary; and grandson Michael Derviller. He is also survived by his sister Milica Milicevic and family of White Rock and Vancouver, BC; and his brother Jova Radovanovic and family of Belgrade, Yugoslavia; his brother in-law Vladislav, and his wife Vaska and sons Alex and Boris; the son he never had, Goran Panic of Calgary; and many relatives and friends on both continents.
Rudy was predeceased by his wife of forty-four years, Tanya; and his brother Miroslav Radovanovic.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Obrad Filipovic of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Simeon officiating. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
