Obituary of Norval Hicks
Norval “Ned” Layton Hicks, beloved husband of Muriel, for fifty-six years, passed away at the AgapÚ Hospiceafter a lengthy battle with heart disease and a recent struggle with cancer on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at the age of 79 years.
Ned was born on June 8, 1925 in Sackville, NB and was a proud member of the RCMP for many years. Before that time, Ned served overseas with the Canadian Army during the Second World War. He was a member of the RCMP Retired Veteran’s Association and of the Royal Canadian Legion #264.
Besides his loving wife, Ned is survived by his beloved children, a son, Terry; and a daughter Sonya both of Calgary. He will be sadly missed by his many sisters and brothers-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; his special aunt, Hazel Blood of Stony Plain, AB; and dearest friend, Edna Handford of Port Coquitlam, BC. Ned is also survived by his extended family and special friends. Ned was predeceased by his mother; father; and sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Larry J. Nicolay officiating.
