Obituary of Gerald Victor Stauffer

Gerald Victor (Gerry) Stauffer, beloved husband of Marjorie Stauffer, passed away peacefully at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at the age of 82 years. Gerry was born in Alsask, SK on March 11, 1922. He was the eldest son of Clyde and Dolly Stauffer. The family farmed in the Alsask area and later moved to the Benalto area where Stauffer Farms still thrives. Gerry studied diesel engineering and graduated from SAIT in 1941. He received his pilot’s license from Chinook Flying Service Ltd. in 1948. In 1969 Gerry and Marjorie started Stauffer Aero Ltd. He worked with Stan Green on the Bleriott replica, rebuilt several Navion aircraft, restored a 1929 DeSoto Phaeton, three Farmall Tractors, and was working on rebuilding some Ranger engines at the time of his passing. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McInnis and Holloway’s Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Celebration of Gerry’s Life will be held at McInnis and Holloway’s Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, September 16, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
