Obituary
Obituary of Yellow Horse
Our beloved Marjorie passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital after battling several illnesses during the past few years of her life.
She was born on the Siksika Nation and got her education at the Crowfoot Residential School, later at the Old Sun Residential School and then in Edmonton. Marjorie got married and moved to Browning, Montana and had four biological children with her husband and one adopted son. Marjorie’s greatest love was in caring for her nieces and nephews and took pride in her craft work such as sewing and loved to do Native bead work. She traveled all over, to Pow-wows in the United States and Canada and won many dance competitions. She returned and settled back in Siksika in 1980 living there until her passing. Marjorie made her Cursillo in 1988 and her Pilgrimage in 2002.
She will be greatly missed by her children whom she raised as her own; Ricky (Jennifer), Tyronne, Emil, Clinton (Missy), Cameron (Allica), Colton (Tammy), Sharrie (Eldon), Jill (Malcolm), Trudy, and Gertrude; grandkids whom she cherished greatly; many nieces and nephews whom she took as her own; her close relatives, Emma Wright, Marie Bear Chief, Marcella Olds, Christine Little Chief and Delia Big Tobacco. She is survived by all her nieces and nephews who were predeceased by their parents, too numerous to mention; by her extended relatives Pius Three Sun’s family, Leona Sleigh’s family, Joan Munro’s family, Weasel Heads, Pretty Youngman, Little Chiefs, Water Chiefs, Eagle Speakers, Turning Robes, Weasel Childs, Axes, Yellow Old Woman and Maguires. The family apologizes for any families that are missed.
Marjorie was predeceased by her five children whom all passed away in the United States; her parents David and Eunice Yellow Horse; sisters Sylvia, Marie, Vicky and Audrey; brothers, Leo, Gabriel, Percy, David and Delbert. God Bless and thank-you to all who supported the family with prayers, food and finances.
