Obituary of Sidney Gaiptman
Sidney Gaiptman, beloved husband of Pauline of Calgary, formerly of Toronto and Montreal, father of Barbara, Ellen and John, passed away at Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at the age of 85 years.
Sidney was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather. He was born in Russia in 1920 and came to Canada in 1925. He spent the majority of his life in Montreal. Sidney accomplished much during his lifetime but will be most remembered as an honest, hard-working, kind and considerate individual.
Sidney will be missed by his loving wife Pauline of fifty seven years and his children Barbara (Joel) Baker of Toronto and Ellen (Bill) Chidley of Calgary; son John (Sharoyne) Gaiptman of Victoria; grandchildren Daniel and Jodi Baker, Katie and Jennie Chidley, and Elisha and Jessica Gaiptman. He will also be missed by nephews Jack (Mireille) Gaiptman, Barry (Jackie) Gaiptman, Brian (Jackie) Butensky and niece Gail (Ron) Ruthfield and his brother-in-law George Butensky. Sidney was predeceased by his parents Wolfe and Bryndl Gaiptman; brother Lou Gaiptman; and sister Eva Butensky.
Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 17 Avenue S.W.) on Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow in the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.). Special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Eau Claire Retirement Residence as well as Unit 82 of the Rockyview General Hospital. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer Society. Shiva will continue in Toronto commencing Sunday, September 12, 2004.
