Obituary of Joyce Pookakii Jones

Joyce (Pixie) Pookakii Jones (nee Bull Bear), beloved wife of Ken Jones of Siksika Nation, AB, passed away peacefully with family by her side at the Strathmore Hospital on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at the age of 57 years. Pixie was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, aunt, sister, grandmother, and friend. She was a devout Christian who had a big heart and always thought of others first. She enjoyed devoting her time to raising her children, spending time with grandchildren, then she and Ken opened up their home and became foster parents. Pixie was very family oriented and enjoyed hosting family gatherings. She welcomed everyone with that unforgettable smile. She also enjoyed attending church, listening to gospel music, reading, and sewing. There are no words to express how deeply she has touched many lives. We love her very much and will miss her dearly. Besides her loving husband Ken, Pixie will be dearly missed by her five children, Kendra (Clayton), Crystal (Stacy), Cory (Amber), Troy, and Ty; two step-children, Kelly (Cathy) and Shelley (Barry); six grandchildren, Anita, Tania, Kalebb, Aidan, Shellbie, and Paris; and numerous foster children. Pixie is also survived by her mother Mary Bull Bear; four brothers, Harrison, Robert (Rosemarie), Davis (Marjorie), and Horace (Celeste); three sisters, Rosalind (Wayne), Wanda (Bruce) and Audrey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at the Arrowwood Community Hall (Arrowwood, AB) on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Arrowwood Community Hall on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Arrowwood Cemetery.
