Obituary of Pamela Stephanie McDonald

Pamela McDonald, beloved daughter of Sandra Hunt McDonald and J. D. Bruce and Rosa McDonald, cherished sister of Meredith and Alison, passed away tragically at the age of 22 on Monday, August 30, 2004. Pamela and her boyfriend, Mike Younger, were involved in a single vehicle accident on their way to her favourite summer destination, the family cabin at Waterton Lakes National Park. Pamela was born on December 31, 1981 at the Foothills Medical Centre. An excellent student, Pamela attended Chinook Park Elementary, Elboya Junior High and Western Canada High School. In April 2003, Pamela graduated from Queen’s University with an B. Sc. (Hons.) in Life Sciences. She had recently been accepted to George Brown College in Toronto where she intended to study accounting, in order to obtain an Articling position for a Chartered Accountant designation. Although her life was tragically short, Pamela managed to fit many accomplishments and adventures into her twenty-two years. A lover of the outdoors, upon graduating from Queen’s, Pamela and her friend, Kristin Engbloom travelled to Australia for a three-month adventure that included a stint working as sheep lifters. Pamela was also a talented rower. She competed nationally and internationally with the Queen’s Varsity Team, and was selected to row with Team Alberta at the 2002 Canada Summer Games. Figure skating was another love of Pamela’s, and throughout her teenage years she could be found at her second home, the skating rink at The Glencoe Club, where she obtained her triple gold level. Of Pamela’s many attributes, the one that will be most fondly remembered by her friends and family was her ability to make a room come alive merely by her entrance. Pamela loved deeply and laughed infectiously; the very reasons why people loved to be in her presence. She will be grievously missed by her grandparents, John and Ethel McDonald of Calgary and Dr. John W. Hunt of Lethbridge; her aunts, uncles and cousins, Nancy McDonald, Heniz Avigdor, Barry and Marilyn Hunt, Christopher Hunt, Paige and Dan Slezak, Bob Hunt, Cheryl and John Morgan, and Genevieve, Craig, Hayley, and Paul Morgan, and her many friends, most especially her loving boyfriend, Mike.
