Obituary of Douglas M. Nelson

Doug Nelson, beloved husband of Jean Nelson of Calgary, passed away at the Sarcee Hospice on Friday, August 27, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 64 years. Doug was born on December 3, 1939 in Claresholm, AB. He worked for TransCanada PipeLines for thirty-eight years. After his retirement Doug worked for Riverside Driving Range and the United Way of Canada. Besides his loving wife Jean, Doug is also survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara Nelson of Calgary, and Karen and Michael Dykman of Okotoks; a son and daughter-in-law Keith and Karen Nelson of Calgary; six grandchildren, Christopher Reid, Marina, Kale and Reese Dykman, and Zachary and Sydney Nelson. He will also be missed by his mother Barbara Nelson of Claresholm; a brother and sister-in-law Ralph and Turid Nelson of Calgary; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Arthur W. Nelson on May 2, 1988. Funeral Services will be held at McDougall United Church (8516 Athabasca Street S.E.) on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
