Obituary of Marko Vrataric

Marko Vrataric, beloved husband of Tina Vrataric of Calgary, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer on August 27, 2004 at the age of 60 years. Marko and Tina bravely left their homeland of Croatia in 1967 to begin a new life together in Canada. They settled in Winnipeg, MB where Marko honed his skills as a Master Carpenter prior to moving the family to Calgary in 1983. Well respected for his work, Marko was always willing to share his talent with those who required his gifted, helping hand. His charismatic charm and quick sense of humour made him a great many friends over the years, whom will all miss him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife Tina; children, Vera, Nick and Walter; son-in-law Alistair Anderson; and his grandchildren Victoria and Robbie, whom he adored dearly. He is also survived by his mother Eva; brother Nikola; sister Ljuba Paulic of Croatia; brother Janko (Milka); and nieces Maria (Ivica) Derezic and Milka (Vlado) Petkovic of Cleveland, Ohio. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Marija Bistrica Croatian Catholic Church (14680 Deer Ridge Drive S.E.) on Wednesday, September 1, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
