Obituary of Jennie Josephine Krisa

Jennie Josephine Krisa of Calgary passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Thursday, August 26, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Jennie was born on November 18, 1924 in Calgary and attended school at Sunnyside Bungalow, Sunnyside Cottage, Hillhurst Junior High School, and Western Canada High School. She was later employed with the Dominion of Canada, The Bank of Toronto and Imperial Oil Ltd. Jennie married Nick Krisa in Calgary on November 23, 1946. In 1950, she began raising her family. She later worked at Marlborough Day Nursery and Hysam’s Surplus Store. Jennie enjoyed gardening, swimming, knitting, bowling, and traveling. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, curling, figure skating, and baseball. Jennie did volunteer work with the Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides and also was a member of the Greater Forest Lawn Seniors. She joined the I.O.D.E. (A.E. Cross Chapter) in 1968, serving with the Calgary Municipal Chapter, the Provincial Chapter and I.O.D.E. Shop. Jennie is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Tim and Eloise Krisa, and Stephen and Diane Krisa; and one daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Duane Whitley, all of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Jaime, Kevin, Amy, Stacy, Ashley, Luke, and Liam. She is also survived by her special friend Harry Watt; a brother, Joe Herold (Lil); and a sister, Ella Savage (Reg), both of Calgary; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jennie was predeacesed by her husband, Nick in 1984; two brothers, Kenneth Gordon Herold, Peter Herold and a sister Alice Matvenko. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, August 30, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev.
