Obituary of Opal Ibbitson

Opal Ibbitson, beloved wife of Mr. Elgin Ibbitson of fifty-five years, of Calgary, passed away at the Mayfair Care Centre on Wednesday, August 25, 2004, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s, at the age of 81 years. Opal was born in Elbow, SK. She was a dedicated wife and the best mother one could ever hope for, never complaining throughout her illness. Family was her main focus in life. She was an avid curler, square dancer, enjoyed traveling and keeping in touch with her longtime friends. Opal was a member of the Parkdale Nifty 50’s Social Club. Besides her loving husband, Opal is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Corinne of Tampa, FL; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Larry Revitt and Diane and Ron Andrews, all of Calgary; seven grandchildren, Julia, Lauren, Philip, Travis, Carly, Dustin and Ty; a great-granddaughter, Gabriella; a brother and sister-in-law, Everett and Joyce Ellison of Regina, SK; and a sister Cora Gavel of Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Services will be held at Parkdale United Church (2919 – 8th Avenue N.W.) on Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
