Obituary of Heather Barbara Winterer

Heather Winterer, wife of Reinhold Winterer of Calgary, passed away at the AgapÚ Hospice on Monday, August 23, 2004 at the age of 64 years. Heather grew up in New Ross, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. Throughout her life, she has lived and worked in Halifax, Colorado Springs, Edmonton and Calgary. For Heather, volunteering was, “Serving others to pay her rent for the space she occupied.” She volunteered with the Red Cross Corps in Halifax for more than a decade by helping immigrants at Pier 21 and residents of Camp Hill Veterans’ Hospital, at Seniors’ Homes, and at Blood Clinics. She helped at the Retired Printers’ Home in Colorado Springs, and assisted at Red Cross Blood Clinics in Edmonton. When she moved to Calgary, she continued supporting the blood collection efforts with the Red Cross and later with the Canadian Blood Services. Heather loved to travel and did so extensively throughout Europe, North America, Asia, and Australia. As a traveler not a tourist, she brought back many stories and few souvenirs. She was intrigued, pleased and fascinated by all the discoveries she made in each country. Besides her husband Reinhold, Heather is survived by a brother Floyd (Ada) Jollymore of Nova Scotia; a sister Melva; and by her aunt Violet. She will be deeply missed by her niece Brenda. She was predeceased by her parents Odin and Tryphena. Memorial Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church (1121 – 14th Avenue S.W.) on Friday, August 27, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
