Obituary of Martina Gacillos Tigley

Martina Gacillos Tigley of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Monday, August 16, 2004 at the age of 93 years. Martina was born on July 15, 1911 in Lawa-an, Eastern Samar, Philippines. Her life was dedicated to her passion for teaching and throughout her life she held positions as a School Teacher, School Principal, District Supervisor and Sunday School Teacher. She was a devoted wife to Clemente Sr., loving mother, and doting grandmother and great-grandmother. She and her husband Clemente Tigley Sr. came to Calgary in 1976. She will be remembered for her loving kindness and the encouragement she brought to everyone around her. Martina is survived by her children, Lou Cardoso, Frank (Rebecca) and Clemente Jr. (Anastacia) all of Calgary, Dr. Esther (Dr. Ruben) Rivera of the U.S.A., son-in-law Rev. Abelardo Montes of the Philippines; grandchildren, Edgar (Karen), Allan (Dr. Emilie), and William (Melissa) Tigley, and Rameses (Analyn) Rivera all of Calgary, Tiffany Rivera of Florida, Dr. Ruben Rivera Jr., Dale (Melda), Billy (Norieta) and Martin (Nelia) Montes all of the Philippines; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Clemente Tigley Sr., daughters Miriam Montes and Elizabeth Tigley, and son-in-law Roberto Cardoso.
