Obituary of Gordon Edward Brown

Gordon Brown of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, August 11, 2004 after a lengthy battle with cancer at the age of 80 years. Born May 1, 1924, Gordie grew up in Edmonton, AB. After completing his first year of university, he enlisted in the Canadian Army at the age of seventeen, and served with the 12th Manitoba Dragoons in France, Holland Belgium and Germany. At the end of the War he returned to Edmonton and took great pride in earning his degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta. This was the start of a career in the Oil and Gas Industry, with involvement in projects around the world. Gordie is survived by his loving family, wife of fifty-five years, Bo; his daughters Debbie Brown (Arthur Harpur), and Carol MacLeod (Neil); his sons, Ted and Tom; and his grandchildren, Jordan, Peter and Marissa Harpur, Shannon and Heath MacLeod, and Tommy and David Brown. He is also survived by his brother Norman Brown (Beth) of Duncan, BC. A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, August 23, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
