Obituary of Orest Victor Yaholnitsky

Orry Yaholnitsky, beloved husband of Irene Yaholnitsky of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Orry was born on April 17, 1924 in Yorkton, SK. He served with the RCAF Atlantic Coastal Command as a Flight Sergeant and was honourably discharged in October 1945. He married Irene Mysko on July 26, 1947 and they moved to Calgary that same year where he worked as a Crane Operator at CPR Ogden Shops. Orry was a life member of the Ogden Legion Branch # 154 where he served as Chairman for the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund. He was a gardener, a birdwatcher, and his small greenhouse supplied tomato and flower plants to as far away as Yorkton, SK. His family was his pride and joy. Besides his loving wife Irene, Orry will be remembered by his children and their spouses, Greg and Maartje of Burnaby, BC, Dennis and Joan, Jackie and Dale, and Trish and Kirk all of Calgary; and five grandchildren, Ryan, Cody, Julia, Nicholas and Dawson, all of Calgary. He is also survived by a sister Jean Yaholnitsky; Orry’s twin sister Vickie Yaholnitsky; and a brother Dr. Richard Yaholnitsky, all of Yorkton, SK. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, August 13, 2004 at 10:30 A.M.
