Obituary of Romeo Atagan

Romeo Atagan, beloved brother, husband and father, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 9, 2004 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at the age of 52 years. Romy was born on June 4, 1952 in Kabankalan, Negros Occidental, Philippines. After traveling the world Romy joined his brothers and sisters in Canada in 1989 and instantly drew the camaraderie of many friends and acquaintances. His life’s passion was his family and praising the Lord in song, and he was extremely active organizing and participating in singing groups and choirs in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In addition, Romy was a role model for the Calgary Central SDA Pathfinders and enjoyed mentoring young children. He always enjoyed laughter and was constantly the life of the party. Romy will be painfully missed by those who love him and those whose lives were touched by him. Romy is survived by his wife, Jean and twelve-year-old daughter Megan whom he both loved dearly and devoted his life to; three brothers, Benedicto (Melita) Atagan of the Philippines, Herman (Leila) Atagan, Delfin (Julie) Atagan, all of Calgary; four sisters, Angie Atagan of Calgary, Anita (Tomas) Parreno of Campbell River, BC, Jocelyn (Jun) Plana and Haide (Wini) Gemoto, all of Calgary. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Romy was predeceased by his parents Rafael and Gaudiosa Atagan; and sister Teresita Diotay. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Saturday, August 14, 2004 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. and on Sunday, August 15, 2004 from 4:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Calgary Garden Road Seventh-day Adventist Church (243017 Garden Road) (Take Hwy #1 East to Garden Road S.E.) on Monday, August 16, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Randy Barber and Pastor Romulo Daquila officiating.
