Obituary of Emily Muldoon

It is with great sadness we announce, Emily Muldoon passed away suddenly at home with Desmond by her side on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Emily was born on April 8, 1914 to Marguerite Geoghegan and William Aloysious Cosgreave in Rathkeale, County Limerick, Ireland. In 1971, Emily married Dr. Desmond Muldoon and they shared thirty-three wonderful years of happiness. Emily qualified as a solicitor in 1936 and joined the family firm in Ireland before coming to Canada in 1952. As a result of the passing of her first husband, Marcus O’Sullivan in 1954, Emily was admitted to the Alberta Bar and practiced Family Law in the Juvenile and Family Court in Calgary for many years. Emily loved life and had many interests, especially her family and friends. She valued her Irish heritage, history and everything Irish. Emily had a great love of literature, animals, sports, flowers, music and travel. Left to celebrate Emily’s life are her beloved husband Desmond Muldoon, Emily’s five children, John O’Sullivan (Rita) of Vancouver, BC, Oona McKinstry (Dale) of Vancouver, BC, Moira Sandberg (Roy) of Calgary, Ivel O’Sullivan-Jaud (Neil) of Calgary and Marcus O’Sullivan of Victoria, BC; as well as thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Monday, August 9, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church (5340 – 4th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. John Petravicius, Presider.
