Obituary of Edward Alex Anderson

Edward (Eddie) Alex Anderson, beloved husband of Marlene Anderson of Calgary, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Wednesday, August 4, 2004, after a battle with emphysema and cancer, at the age of 62 years. Eddie was born on January 29, 1942 in Prince Albert, SK. He lived in Lone Spruce, SK until 1968 and has lived in Calgary ever since. Eddie and Marlene were married on July 5, 1969. He was a carpenter and a caretaker and believed that working hard was important and demonstrated this belief all his life. Eddie’s greatest joy was being with his grandchildren, and he regretted that his illness prevented him from being more active with them. He also loved to vacation in Hawaii and made his last trip there in February of this year. He was an avid hockey fan and a huge collector of hockey cards; he “played” with them right up to the time he went in to the hospital. Eddie was extremely courageous throughout his long struggle with being ill and suffered greatly so he could be here for us, his family. We love you more than can possibly be said! Besides his loving wife, Eddie is survived by his daughter Rhonda and granddaughter Evangelina; daughter and son-in-law, Rena and Dennis, and grandson Ethan; and son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Luanne and grandson Zachary. He is also survived by his mother Esther and step-father Arnold; sisters, Arlene (Doug) and Elaine (Allan); brother Andy (Marilee); and sisters, Vicky (Clifford) and Dawn (Terry). Eddie was predeceased by his father Elis Alexander Anderson; and his grandparents, Mae and Delmer Weaver and Annie Szells. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
