Obituary of Drunken Chief

Clement Drunken Chief (Bear Chief) passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on July 27, 2004 at the age of 48 years. Clement was born on January 2, 1956 on the Siksika Nation Reserve. He lived in Calgary for most of his adult life and was known as a kind-hearted person. Clement had a good sense of humor and was a humble man. He was more than willing to give people a “hand up” because he knew and understood people’s situations and hard times. Clement is survived by a daughter, Melissa Crazy Bull and a son; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous brothers and sisters, Hector Winnipeg Sr., Wallace (Theresa) Bear Chief, Francis (Marilyn) Bear Chief, Clement (Theresa) Bear Chief, Donna (Roy) L’Hommecourt, Arthur (Marie) Bear Chief, Joan Bear Chief, Melvin Bear Chief, Roy (Elaine) Bear Chief, Alvina (Wallace) Cutter, Celeste (Horace) Bull Bear, Robert (Gwendora)Bear Chief, Patsy Bear Chief, Melvin D. Chief, Darlene Drunken Chief, Arlene (Alvin) Black Kettle, Brian (Maureen) Drunken Chief, Stewart Own Chief and Olivia Good Rider. Clement is also survived by numerous aunts; uncles; nephews; nieces; special brothers, Daniel Black Kettle, and Herbie Conrad; adopted mother Mabel Thomas (nee Black Kettle) and other relatives. Clement was predeceased by his father, Walker Bear Chief; mother, Jane Drunken Chief; sister, Delma Fox and his brothers Raymond Cutter and Roy Drunken Chief; adopted dad Billy Weasel Child; and grandparents Francis and Bona Black Kettle. Wake Services will be held at Sister Celine Memorial Parish Hall on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Catholic Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Wednesday, August 4, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev. Ian GagnÚ Presider.
