Obituary of William Oakley

Mr. William Mason Oakley, beloved husband of Beth of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday July 21, 2004 at the age of 80 years. William was born in Garber, OK, on January 28, 1924. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Air Force, 390th Bomb Group in England, rising to the rank of Sergeant. After the war he married Beth Sanjean Remund in 1947 in Oklahoma City and attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating in 1950 with a degree in Geological Engineering. Employed by Amoco Production for sixteen years, William and his family moved to Calgary in 1967 where he had his own geophysical consulting company, W. M. Oakley and Associates. He was a member of several professional organizations and was named in Who’s Who. William is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Beth; sons Bill Jr. (Christine) Oakley of Seattle, WA, Michael (Andrea) Oakley of Calgary; daughters, Susan (Fred) King of Spokane, WA, Marilyn (Gary Cochrane) Oakley of Calgary, AB; grandchildren, Sara and Matt King, Erica, Wendy, Kim, Todd, Tyler, Hayle, and Quinn Oakley, Charlotte Tetley and Sean and Jamie Cochrane. William was predeceased by his brother Jim in 1986. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, July 29, 2004 at 10:00 A.M.
