Obituary of Marcelo Mendoza Zafra

Marcelo Mendoza Zafra, beloved husband of the late Alfonsa B. Zafra of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Marcelo was born on January 21, 1920 at Bocaue, Bulacan, Philippines. He graduated from the Jose Rizal College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. He served as a Military Police under USAFE during WWII. He worked as a Property Manager for the Hotel Filipinas until he retired. Marcelo immigrated to Canada in 1982 where he enjoyed retirement, fishing, and watching his grandchildren play hockey, baseball, and football. He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Felizardo (Gloria), Ruben (Stephanie/Estrella) and Efren (Cely); and his daughters, FÚ (Artemio), Teresa (Rick) and Julie (Gerth). He will be sadly missed by his grandson Ruben Jr. whom he helped raise; his twenty grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and his nephew Len and Gilda Zafra. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 8, 2004 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.).
