Obituary of Allister Halbert

Allister Halbert, beloved husband of Cathey Halbert of Calgary , passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at the age of 66 years. Allister was born on May 26, 1938 in Trochu, AB and resided in Alberta all his life. He married Cathey on August 24, 1963 and worked for twenty-seven years as a Computer Analyst for GSI Services and Haliburton Services. He was also part of the RCAF from 1960 to 1965. Allister was a member of the Catholic Church. He was also affiliated with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #284 and donated blood regularly. He even received a certificate from the city for his blood donations. Allister’s greatest achievement was the birth of his children and his passion was Astronomy. Besides his loving wife, Allister is survived by three children, Arthur, Carrie and David Byman of Calgary and Alice and Perry Schmalenberg of Waterdown, ON; and four grandchildren, Trevor and Jeffery Byman and Haley and Julia Schmalenberg. He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Edrie Halbert and several nieces and nephews. Allister was predeceased by his son Daniel Richard; his parents, Ben and Alice Halbert; and his step-mother Grace Halbert. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at 1:00 P.M. with the Rev. Jack Pereira, Presider.
