Obituary of Mario Carbognin

Mario Carbognin of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday, June 20, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Mario was born in 1925 in Valdagno, Vicenza, Italy. He served in the Italian Army in World War II and immigrated to Canada with his brother in 1956. He suffered a construction accident in 1957 and was subsequently unable to work. Although he was partially paralyzed, Mario still led an active life. He was very involved with the Italian Club, through which he made many friends. Mario is survived by his sister Gina of Valdagno, Italy; a sister-in-law Miria; and nephews and nieces, Marcello (Lori), Linda (Claudio), Andrea (Nicole), Dan (Mel) and Dave (Grace); and numerous nephews and nieces in Italy. He was predeceased by his niece Anita; his brother, Luigi; and brothers and sisters in Italy. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Friday, June 25, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. George Mariadoss, Presider.
