Frederick Krien

Obituary of Frederick Krien

Frederick (Fred) Krien passed away suddenly from a heart attack on Thursday, June 17, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Fred was born in Russia on January 12, 1926 and grew up on a farm near Leader, SK where he developed a keen interest in mechanics. He went on to build, by hand, the machines to run Krico Manufacturing, where he could be found until 2000. Fred was a lighthouse for his family and friends – a steady beacon who could be relied upon for guidance in rough waters and was always there when he was needed. He was an avid golfer, had a keen interest in politics, a passion for all things mechanical, and a deep love of animals. Fred was a quick wit who had a comeback suitable for every occasion and could swear in many languages. Left behind to remember him are his beloved children, Patricia Dunford (Greg Pawluk) and John Krien (Kristi Berlin); his siblings, Bill, Matilda (Oscar) and Lydia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and dear friend Helga Zabbee, who came to him late in life to put a sparkle in his eye and a spring in his step. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, June 21, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
