Obituary of Evertt William Culp

Evertt William Culp beloved husband of Mary Culp of Irricana passed away peacefully, after a brief battle with cancer on June 16, 2004 at the age of 82 years. Evertt was born October 31, 1921 on a homestead eight miles west of Irricana. He attended Kathryn High School where he met his future wife Mary Hallam and they were married July 8, 1944. Initially, Evertt and his brothers started a trucking business, hauling coal and grain. He then went on to own and operate a farm north of Irricana. He was an enthusiastic competitor in baseball, hockey, curling and golf that led to several championships. In later years his keenness for bowling in the senior’s league, led him to be one of the top scorers. One of his greatest joys was watching his children and grandchildren participate in their sports. He was an active member in the Lions Club and KIK Seniors as well as helping with many community projects. Evertt was a dedicated member of his church and truly devoted to his faith. He was kind and caring and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Evertt will be sadly missed by his wife Mary; daughter and a son-in-law Diane and Grant Summach and daughter Carol Haase; a son and daughter-in-law, Glen and Janice Culp: as well as grandchildren, Raelene (Randal) Praeker, Chad Haase (Stacey Petropolous), Jason (Angela)Haase, Ryan Culp, Darren Culp, and Cameron Culp; and a great grand-daughter Grace Praeker. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Ivan and Isabel Culp and Vernon and Marge Culp; brother-in-law Rolf Gilberg; and sister-in-law Mildred (Wilf Heringer). Evertt was predeceased by his sister Vera Gilberg.
