Obituary of Florence Match Singer
Florence Singer, beloved wife of Leon Singer of Calgary, AB, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the age of 80 years.
Besides her loving husband, Leon Singer, Florence is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Adam Singer (Marg Semel) of Calgary, and a daughter and son-in-law Jessica Levental (Igor) of Denver, CO; as well as four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sister Sylvia Popeil and brother Isidore Match.
Florence Singer was born and raised in New York City. She graduated with a B.A. from Hunter College of New York at the age of 19 and worked as a Social Worker for the City of New York. She later graduated from Brooklyn Law School and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1949. Florence and her family moved to Canada in 1960, and in 1968 she was admitted to the Alberta Bar in Edmonton, where she practiced law until her retirement in 1984. She also served as President of the Edmonton Jewish Federation and the Edmonton Jewish Drop-In Centre.
Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 17 Avenue S.W.) today, June 16, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. Interment to follow in the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.).
