Obituary of Margaret McMillan Armstrong

Margaret McMillan Armstrong (nee Rennie) of Cochrane passed away at the Bethany Care Centre, Cochrane, AB on Friday, June 11, 2004 at the age of 96 years. Margaret was born on September 23, 1907 in Rouleau, SK, the oldest of eight children born to Beatrice and Robert Rennie. Upon leaving the homestead at Truax, the family settled in Saskatoon where Margaret attended Buena Vista School and Nutana Collegiate. After graduating from high school, she attended the Saskatoon Normal School and taught in several rural schools near Saskatoon. Margaret lived most of her married life in Saskatoon. She resided in the family home on Avenue E until 1992 when she moved to the Bethany Care Centre in Cochrane, AB. Mourning her passing are her daughter Anne Sollberger (Arnie) and grandchildren, Evan and Andrea Sollberger; her daughter-in-law Gail Armstrong and grandchildren, David Armstrong and Susan Hessel (Jeff); and great-granddaughter Elise. Margaret is also survived by two brothers, Charles Rennie and John Rennie; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Nora Fraser. She was predeceased by her husband Chris Armstrong in 1979; her son Murray Armstrong in 2002; two brothers, Robert Rennie and James Rennie; and three sisters, Marjorie Chasmar, Agnes Niven and Anne Hindley. A Memorial Service will be held at McKague’s Funeral Chapel (300 – 3rd Avenue South) on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at 1:30 P.M.
