Obituary of Luigi Izzo

Luigi Izzo, beloved husband of Mrs. Rosa Izzo of Calgary, passed away at his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, June 9, 2004 at the age of 73 years. Luigi was born on June 17, 1930 in Pietramelara, Caserta, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1957 at the age of twenty-seven and later met his wife, Rosa, and started their family. He was always a very humble and unselfish man with a great sense of humour. Luigi was employed for several years and then retired from the Calgary Catholic School District. His greatest joy was socializing with family and friends and sharing a glass of his homemade wine. Luigi’s resilience, strength and faith throughout his illness was inspirational. Besides his loving wife Rosa, Luigi is survived by his children, Tony, Angela, Lorenzo, and Danielle; and a granddaughter Izabella, all of Calgary. He is also survived by his uncle Nicola (Ginoefa) Muzzo; brothers, Giovanni (Maria), Giuseppe (Regina), Mario, Vincenco (Maria), Pietro (Carmella), and brother-in-law Isidoro (Jackie) Foglia, all of Calgary; a sister Maria Tesoniero of Italy and many brothers and sisters-in-law in Italy; as well as numerous and cherished family and friends. Luigi was predeceased by his parents, Rocco Antonio and Maria Serafina; a brother Nicola Izzo and a sister Teresa Izzo. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, June 11, 2004 at 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Saturday, June 12, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. George Mariadoss, Presider.
