Obituary of Roland Leroy Prestlien

Roland Leroy Prestlien, affectionately known as Ty, passed away at the Dr. Vernon Fanning Centre on Monday, June 7, 2004 at the age of 79 years. Ty was born on May 30, 1925 at Hughenden, AB. He attended school in Good Luck, Lakesend and Hughenden. Ty farmed with his dad and brother until 1974 when he retired and moved to Calgary. During his farming years he was active in community affairs, was the pitcher of the baseball team and was a very good neighbour. Ty is survived by his special friend Mary; a brother Elster and sister-in-law Mary; a sister Kirsti; nephews, Bob Sorenson and his partner Donna, Stuart Miller and his wife Annette, Barry Stevens, and Blake Torney and his wife Wendy; nieces, Betty Knight, Karol Steele and her husband Bill, Irene Tulik and her husband Dan, Monica Clements and her husband Dan, Deb Weber and her husband Dennis, and Tannis Cochrane and her husband Steve; great-nephews, Sydney and Rodney Sorenson, Goef and Darren Knight, Chris and Linda Sinclair, Adam and Shauna Clements, McKenzi and Grayson Cochrane, Eric Ulich, and Shane Stevens; great-nieces, Dana, Karla, Paula Miller, Tara and Tom McGillvray, Kelti and Brett Manning, Kali and Shea Webber, and Kaci Cochrane; great-grandnephews, Tyler Knight, Nicholas Sinclair, Connor, Hayden and Brendan Manning, and Ethan Clements; great-grandnieces, Ashley and Alexa McGillvray, and Ciera Sinclair; as well as numerous cousins in Canada and the United States. Ty was predeceased by his parents, Nels and Nettie Prestlien; and two sisters, Velma and Orline. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, June 11, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. A Funeral Service will be held at the Amisk Park Lutheran Church, Amisk, AB at a later date. Interment in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in Amisk, AB, beside his mother and father.
