Obituary of Ferdinand Liebrecht

Fred Liebrecht passed away at Rockyview General Hospital on Friday, May 28, 2004 after a lengthy illness. Fred was born on September 17, 1917 in Stornaway, Saskatchewan to Frederick and Elsa Liebrecht. As one of thirteen children, Fred was raised on the family farm. Fred joined the Canadian Army in WWII. After a medical discharge, he moved to Vancouver, where he met Laura and they married in 1947. They moved to Calgary in 1948 where Fred worked in both the taxi and trucking businesses. After earning his certificate in Steam Engineering he started working for the Trizec Corp. in 1960 until his retirement, as well as pursuing other business interests. Fred worked at various endeavors right up to his final illness. He never lost his wonderful sense of humour, his bright smile or his love of fishing. After a loving marriage and partnership of forty-eight years, his wife, Laura Margarite, predeceased Fred in 1995. Left to remember him are his children and grandchildren, daughter Linda (Bjorn) Appelt and grandson Jason and granddaughter Angela (Luke) Scipior; his son, Reginald (Dina) Liebrecht, grandson Brian, all of Calgary, granddaughter Melanie (Jason) Thomas and their sons Login and Caleb of Lethbridge; a sister Agnes in SK; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and friend Doreen Carruthers. He will be laid to rest beside his beloved Laura at Mountain View Memorial Gardens. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
