Obituary of Philip James Murray

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of our husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Philip James Murray, on Saturday, May 8, 2004. Philip was born in Sundre, AB in 1935 on a small homestead. His family moved to the Turner Valley area where he was raised and, after completing his schooling, was employed in the oil and gas industry where he worked for more than forty years culminating in his ownership and management of Frontier Engineering and Consulting Ltd. He retired in 1996 enabling him to pursue his love of boating, fishing, travelling to BC, and enjoying time with his family. In Calgary he enjoyed groups of friends from the boating community (Power Squadron), golfing, curling, and was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #264. Philip leaves, to mourn his loss, his beloved wife, best friend and soulmate, Lauren; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Randy Wosnack and Coly and Kevin Gutekunst; a son, Blair McNab; four grandchildren, Kilee (Andy) Dovichak, Darren James Ogrodiuk, and Tianna and Scott Wosnack; and two great-grandchildren, Drew and Aleksandra Dovichak. He is also survived by his sisters, Joan (Frank) Scott, Olga (Laverne) Droppo, Hazel (Rufus) Schellenberg, and Gwen (Gerry) Schindeler; as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
