Obituary of George Edward Poile

It is with deepest sorrow we announce the passing of George Edward Poile, beloved husband of Loretta Poile of Calgary, who passed away at the Bethany Care Centre on Wednesday, May 5, 2004 at the age of 66 years. George was born in Edmonton on October 8, 1937. His family moved to Calgary when he was three years old. He attended school in Calgary at Colonel Walker and Crescent Heights. Upon graduation he became an Electrician. He joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 424 in Calgary and was employed with them for twenty-seven years until his retirement at age forty-nine. After retiring, he drove taxi for ten years in Calgary before really retiring. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. George had a rare gift of putting others before himself. He was always there helping out for whatever reason to anyone that needed it. George’s greatest hobby in life was fishing in the ocean and it will live on forever. Rest in peace. He is survived by his loving family and will be dearly missed by his wife Loretta; two daughters, Melody and Lorelei; a son Dana Castle; grandchildren, Tiffaney and Dylan, also of Calgary; two sisters, Eleanor (Pat) of Edmonton and Joyce of Calgary; three brothers, Gordon (Mary) of Calgary, Dave (Elsie) of Surrey, BC and Doug (Jean) of Lethbridge; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son Brent Castle, his loving parents, Bob and Viney and a brother Arthur.
