Obituary of George Revell Robertson

It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of George Revell Robertson on May 3, 2004 at Calgary, Alberta. George was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) for fifty years and the proud and loving father to James (Cindy) and Elizabeth (Bob) Shepherd. He was a devoted grandfather to Alex and Will Shepherd. He is also survived by his sisters Hilda Prince, Jean Hill, Joan Kerell; brother Donald Robertson; and several nephews and nieces. George was born at Mount Pleasant, ON on March 23, 1925. He served bravely in World War II with the 1st Canadian Parachute Battalion, and parachuted into France on the night of June 5, 1944 in advance of the Normandy Invasion. George graduated from Queen’s University in 1950 with a degree in Geology and practised in the oil and gas industry until his death. He was one of the first to recognize the potential of what became the Rainbow Lake discovery, and his career included several other prominent discoveries.
