Obituary of Betty Katrina Larson

Betty Katrina Larson of Calgary passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at the age of 75 years. Betty was born on March 11, 1929 in Cardston, AB, making Calgary her home at a very young age. Her life was a lesson in caring and serving. Betty was the “backbone” of the Vinny Jacques family for over forty years, as well as a long-term employee of the Calgary Montessori School. Throughout her life she volunteered in various organizations from Job’s Daughters and DeMolay to the Kidney Foundation and Variety Club. Betty’s journey included over eighteen years as a kidney dialysis patient and the many-faceted complications of living with chronic illness. She was blessed with the gift of touching the hearts of everyone she met and all who knew her were blessed by her touch. Through Betty’s example she taught us how to: face fate without complaint, turn any obstacle into an opportunity and make the most of our experience here. Betty is wished God’s speed on her ongoing journey by her earthly family, John Sullivan, Barb Kryski (Barry Robey) and Darin Kryski, Andrea (Andy) Schirok, Kathy Wood, (Sherri, Tash and Bri Wood), and Lorette Dumonceaux. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by four brothers. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Clinton M. Mooney of St. Matthew United Church officiating. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
