Obituary of Ethel Adorjan

Ethel Adorjan (nee Hunyak), beloved wife of the late Mr. Alex Adorjan of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, April 21, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Ethel was born on June 19, 1920 in Fels÷vadas, Hungary and immigrated to Canada with her parents in 1926. She spent her growing up years in East Coulee near Drumheller, AB where she was a coal miner’s wife. In 1950 Ethel moved from East Coulee to the Capitol Hill area of Calgary. Ethel worked at the Park Lane Restaurant and the 400 Club. In the last nine years, she has become a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was known for sending parcels of new and used clothing to friends and relatives in Hungary – even sending eighteen parcels in the last two years. Ethel overcame bowel cancer when she was in her fifties. Her favourite vacations were to Hungary to visit relatives and friends. She loved to buy lottery tickets and to eat, especially her own Hungarian cooking. Ethel is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Patrice; a daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Ulf; three granddaughters, Andrea, Anita and Laura; and two great-granddaughters, Avril and Deanna. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander, brother George Hunyak and sister Julie. A Memorial Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses (1705 Ranchlands Way N.W.) on Monday, April 26, 2004 at 2:00 P.M. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
