Obituary of Ruth Demaris Forseth

Ruth Demaris Forseth, 89, of Calgary died peacefully April 21, 2004 at Bow Crest Care Centre in Calgary, her husband Thor by her side. Ruth was born in Cutknife Sask, moved at a young age with her parents to Grande Prairie AB and met, then married Thor in 1940. They lived and worked as grain buyers for a while in Hines Creek and Sexsmith AB. In 1947 the family of four moved to Peace River AB where Ruth was active in church activities, Eastern Star #107, piano teaching, Celebrity Concert Series, Women and Independent Business, administrative duties in the family-operated farm machinery and truck sales business, and social duties as wife of a town councillor and Mayor. In 1967, Ruth and Thor moved to Calgary and administrated their small real-estate company. She was active as organist in Eastern Star #34, and hosted memorable dinners and teas attended by family and friends. Ruth will be remembered for her integrity, generosity, kindness, independent spirit, fastidious nature and unswerving faith. She will be sadly and lovingly missed by husband Thor, daughter Melba Jean (Ron) Verkland, son Gerald Forseth, grand-children Debbie Ashton and Brent (Marla) Verkland, and great-grandchildren Amber, Courtney, Shane and Thomas all living in Calgary. She is predeceased by her brothers Roy and Norman and sisters Carrie Baynton and Eva Swanton. Special thanks to the staff of Bay Shore Health Care and at Bow Crest Care Centre.
