Obituary of Van Tighem

Geraldine Van Tighem of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at the age of 89 years. Geraldine was born August 9, 1914 in Strathmore, AB and attended St. Mary?s Girls School in Calgary. She worked for Hadden Davis and Brown which later became Reid Crowther and Partners. Gerry was the organist at Holy Name Catholic Church for many years and a fifty-six year member of the Catholic Women?s League. She volunteered her services to the St. Mary?s Girls School Alumni and Scholarship Committee, as well as devoted her life to doing service for others. In 1991, Gerry received the Diocesan Award of Merit. She is survived by two brothers and three sisters-in-law, Leonard and Delma Van Tighem of Okotoks, Francis Patrick Van Tighem of Calgary, Eileen Van Tighem of Calgary, and Noelle Van Tighem of Ottawa; as well as ten nephews, four nieces, sixteen grandnephews, fourteen grandnieces, and one great-grandniece. Gerry was predeceased by two brothers, John Victor Van Tighem on January 29, 1991 in Calgary, Clarence Joseph Van Tighem on October 26, 2003 in Ottawa, and a niece Mary Van Tighem on March 6, 1994. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.), on Monday, April 12, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be concelebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.) on Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. with the Rev. Robert Dielissen, Principal Presider.
