Obituary of Iain Stuart Forbes

Iain Stuart Forbes, beloved husband of Lorna Forbes of Calgary, passed away suddenly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Tuesday, April 6, 2004 at the age of 70 years. Iain was born on February 9, 1934 in Stonehaven, Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1957 to begin his career with the Bank of Montreal. He especially enjoyed working with Alberta ranchers and farmers as the manager of the Stockyards Branch until its close. After his retirement he continued to enjoy the Bank Pensioners Group luncheons. Iain spent many years as a volunteer for the Acadia Community Association where he and Lorna fostered many dear friendships. In 1994 they were awarded an Honourary Lifetime Membership for their outstanding commitment to the community. Many winters were spent in Arizona, but Iain’s greatest joy was spending time at the cabin at Gull Lake where he could watch his children and grandchildren play and grow. Iain is sadly missed by Lorna, his loving wife of forty-two years; his son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Sandra; and his grandchildren Evan and Emily of Calgary; his son and daughter-in-law Gregory and Paula, and his granddaughter Jenna of Vancouver; a brother and sister-in-law Noel and Margaret of Scotland; and a sister Gladys Reid of Sault St. Marie; and many other family members and friends.
