Obituary of Roy Angus Mikalson

Roy Angus Mikalson passed away in his sleep early in the morning of April 3, 2004. Roy is survived by Christina, daughter Aimee (Jerry), and grandchildren Kevin, Jonah and a tyke yet to be introduced to the world. Predeceased by brother, Grant in 1973; and father Michael in 1987, Roy is also survived by mother Dolina MacKinnon; sisters Olivia (Don), Claire (Adrian), Shiela (Carl) and Michele; and by brothers Mike (Cathy), his twin Ross (Charlotte), Ian (Elizabeth), Douglas (Jane), Graham, and Glenn (Belinda). Missing Uncle Roy are Tracy, Derek, Susan, Heather, Bradley, Bonnie, Tristan, Caileigh, Danny, Ryan and Berrick. Born October 24, 1951 in Taber, AB, Roy was an introspective and quiet individual given to deep thought and venture into the world’s great philosophies. Possessed of a fine and clear intelligence, a keen and incisive wit, and a natural ability to disarm any of life’s triumphs and tragedies with humour so timely and rare, we were always left laughing and lighter of heart for the experience. While Roy was a career Postie, serving the good citizens of Calgary as a Mail Service Courier with Canada Post from 1981, his employer held him in the highest regard for his honesty, continual portrayal of a positive Corporate image, and his commitment to outstanding customer service (Bravo Roy!) As twins, Roy and Ross were known from infancy as Little and Big Ursus, after the heavenly constellations Ursa Minor and Ursa Major. To our friends and colleagues therefore, we invite you to join a celebration of Little Urrey’s life as we see him off to the stars after which he was so named… Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A Celebration of Roy’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 3:30 P.M. with the Rev. Leslie Walker officiating.
