Obituary of Christina Velker

Miss Christina Velker of Calgary passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Saturday, March 27, 2004 at the age of 93 years. Born in Whitla, AB, Christina came to Medicine Hat in 1919. In 1926 she moved to Beiseker where she resided until coming to Calgary in 1961. Christina was an active member of the C.W.L. for seventy-seven years and was involved in the Pastoral Care program at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She worked at the South Calgary YMCA until her retirement in 1979. Christina is survived by two sisters, Irene Moore of Edmonton, and Phyllis (Charles) Silk of Florida. She will also be remembered by a sister-in-law, Matilda Velker of Calgary; a brother-in-law Larry Siegel of Fort Saskatchewan; as well as her numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Christina was predeceased by her parents, Nicholas and Phillipina Velker; four brothers, Bill, Tony, Adam, and Nick; and a sister, Mary Seigel. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 7:00 P.M. with the Rev. Mr. Paul Heffernan officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church (10827 – 24th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. with the Rev.
