Obituary of Alfred Harper Capper

Alfred Harpur Capper of Calgary passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 20, 2004 at the age of 92 years. Alfred was the beloved husband of Kathleen McGee Capper, his wife of sixty-six years. After living in Montreal for sixty-three years, they moved to Victoria, BC in 1974, where they continued to reside until a recent move to Calgary. Alfred’s talents and interests were diverse including sailing, skiing, photography, playing the piano, metalworking, and painting. He maintained a lifetime interest in physics, mathematics and astronomy, and built his own observatory in the Quebec Laurentians. Alfred was both a gentlemen and a gentle man. He will be dearly missed by his wife Kathleen; three sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Louise Capper, Brian Capper and Shirley Hunter, Neil and Lita Capper; and a daughter and son-in-law Margaret Ann and Ross Galbraith. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Tricia, Liane, Alexandra, Keith, Kieran, Timothy, Stephen, Ken and Karen; and by his great-grandchildren; two brothers, John and Desmond; and a sister Eileen. Alfred was predeceased by a sister Dorothy. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
