Obituary of Stewart Morehouse

Stewart “George” Morehouse, beloved husband of Helen of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the age of 88 years. George will be sadly missed by his wife Helen; sister Helen Barefoot; sons, Doug of Calgary and Richard of Port Ludlow, WA and their families; seven grandchildren; eight and two-thirds great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Gladys on May 27, 1967. Born in Schenectady, NY, George moved to Calgary in 1924. He served thirty-five years with the Calgary Police Service, often referred to as “Mother Morehouse” whilst serving as Sergeant in the Traffic Division and retiring as inspector in 1973. George had a great love of the outdoors and was known for his expertise in woodworking. He will be remembered for his years of volunteer commitment to young men and boys at “Boystown” in Calgary during the 1940’s.
