Obituary of Tilde Rainbow

It is with great sadness we announce that Tilde Rainbow of Calgary passed away quietly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Friday, March 12, 2004, having fought a brave battle with cancer. Tilde was born February 23, 1921 in Tallinn, Estonia, and immigrated to Montreal in 1953 via England and Germany. After leaving Canadair as a technical illustrator in 1975, Tilde and husband Ray enjoyed their years of retirement together in Kitchener, Ontario, Los Boliches, Spain, and frequent trips to tropical places. A Calgarian since 1988, Tilde continued to pursue her interest in travel and people through active participation with Confederation Park Senior Citizens Centre, and with the Kirby Centre. Her helpful, positive attitude and skills endeared her to those who came to know her. She will be sadly missed by her many close friends in Calgary and throughout North America. Tilde was predeceased by her husband Arthur Walendowsky in 1963, and her second husband Ray Rainbow in 1987. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ursula and Robert Mergny of Calgary; and her extended family – Arthur’s daughter Waldtraut Draheim; and Ray’s sons, Paul, Phillip and Jonathan, and their families. A Celebration of Tilde’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Thursday, March 18, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
