Obituary of Alfredo Rinaldi

Alfredo Rinaldi, beloved husband of Ida of Calgary, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his friends and family at the Foothills Medical Centre after a courageous battle with cancer and kidney disease on Monday, March 8, 2004 at the age of 77 years. Alfredo was born on December 4, 1926 in Mongrassano, Italy. There he met and married his wife Ida. After the births of his first two lovely children, Alfredo moved his family to Canada in April of 1958, after which another child would bless the family in 1959. Alfredo worked for ATCO for twenty-two years before retiring in 1983. His passion for his grandchildren was first and foremost. Alfredo loved and adored each one. If he wasn’t spending time with his grandchildren he was working in his garden, weaving baskets and playing cards with his friends and family. Alfredo looked forward to the family’s yearly vacations to Penticton, BC where he lounged on the beach and ate lots of fresh fruit, especially those peaches! Alfredo was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather. He was a great friend to many special people and he will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving and devoted wife of fifty-three years Ida, his daughter and son-in-law Grazia and Nino Damis, son and daughter-in-law Olindo and Dianne Rinaldi; granddaughter Faustina Damis; and grandsons Elia Damis, Angelo Rinaldi and Michael Rinaldi, all of Calgary. Also missing him is his only surviving sister Filomena Scarpelli of Italy, and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews in Calgary and abroad. Alfredo was predeceased by his youngest son Geri on October 1, 2003, brothers Vincenzo, Giuseppe, Francesco, and a sister Vangelina of Argentina; his brother Domenico and his parents Angelo and Maria Francesca of Italy. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.), today, March 11, 2004 at 8:30 P.M.
